Home learning - including Homework

Homework grids will be stuck in your child's homework book at the start of each half term and can also be found on the link below.

Home learning work and zoom codes will be sent to Parent's emails in the event of a lockdown, school or class closure.

If your child is isolating due to Covid please try to do the work below if you are able to.

Maths - Please practice adding and subtracting ensuring your child knows their number bonds to 10 e.g. 5+5 =10, 10 - 7 = 3, their number bonds to 20 e.g. 12+8 = 20, 20 - 2 = 18 and their number bonds to 100 e.g. 30 + 70 = 100, 100 - 40 = 60.

Please practice writing numerals and words to 100 making sure that your child's numerals are formed correctly and are the right way round.

English -  Please visit Spelling Shed and practice the assignment set and the Stage 1 and 2 spellings.

              Please practice correctly writing letters.

Phonics - please practice level 5 and 6 sounds.

Thank you,

Mrs Lomax

Homework - Autumn Term 1 2022

Each half term a homework grid will be posted here and sent home with your child. Children should aim to complete at least 6 pieces over the half term. The challenges that are coloured pink must be complete by the end of the half term.

Each week your child will be set spellings on Spelling Shed on a Tuesday. We will be practising these same spellings in class and spelling tests will take place on a Tuesday. Please log in and get your child to practice as often as they can. Children can also practice the Stage 1 and 2 spellings as these are the spellings they need to know by the end of Year 2. See how far up the leaderboard they can get and see if they can beat Mrs Lomax's score! Let's see if we can get Year 2 to be top of the school leaderboard!

Reading books will be changed on Mondays. Please ensure reading books are in school daily as we will be reading with small groups every day. Children should read regularly at home, ideally every night.  Their reading diary should be signed to show what has been read. Your child will have the opportunity to get a library book once a week on a Monday and they should be returned every Monday so your child can get another book. Thank you.

Thank you for your continued support, I really enjoy marking the children's homework and it is evident that lots of time and effort goes into it.
